Mindful Indulgence

Last night my power went out. I was confused because it hardly ever goes out even when there’s a massive storm. Today I learned there was at least one meteor visible over the sky at the same time. Is this a coincidence or could it have caused some small EMP burst (or something).

If you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

into the future

Despite Einstein’s original theories that time travel into the past, unlike into the future, should be impossible, it sounds like that is no longer the general consensus among theoretical physicists. (Michio’s take http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMVOeauQIWI) Given that technology, humans would undoubtedly end up using it, even if it was made illegal and banned. Since we’re seemingly not being overrun with people visiting from the future, could that mean that the human civilization is going to perish before we can acquire that technology?

Yea. It will.

Yea. It will.

Point.me

Another former colleague of mine who left the company I currently work at around 3 years ago has co-founded a new company Point.me. It is a mobile app which is available on the iPhone right now.

This is a cool free app. It allows you to view other people’s suggestions about the places around you and even join into a conversation about it.

I know everyone always says this, but this is very similar to an idea that I had which I unfortunately never got anywhere with. This is yet another inspiration for me to work on my own ideas. I am enticed by the motivation of others. I am continually compelled to start my own thing, be my own person, and really truly be self-reliant. I wish the Point.me founders the best of luck!

Two more taken inventions

Recently I had two ideas for inventions.

1) I wanted a thermostat controlled power outlet plug. It would turn on or off whatever was plugged into it when the temperature reached the defined level. I needed it because my heater didn’t have a thermostat. I found it was already invented; both a bad and good thing.

2) Acceleration controlled flashing brake light. Maybe battery controlled. Stick it to your bumper. When you stop quickly, it flashes so that the people behind you don’t crash into you. This happened to me once before when stopping quickly in heavy traffic. It turns out this exists already.

Ignorance is bliss, and the lack of it is even better.
